Billy Crystal will pay tribute to Robin Williams at the 2014 Emmy awards.
The 66-year-old actor will honor his friend and former co-star with an In Memoriam segment during the ceremony. Williams died of suicide by asphyxiation earlier this month at age 63.
"We felt we need to do something powerful and memorable," Emmy producer Don Mischer said in a statement. "Billy seemed like the perfect choice."
Crystal and Williams starred as Jack Lawrence and Dale Putley, respectively, in the 1997 film Father's Day. Crystal responded to news of Williams' death August 12 by simply tweeting, "No words." The actor is slated to star in new FX series The Comedians in 2015.
The 2014 Emmy awards air August 25 on NBC.
