Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has received a group of artists participating in the "Proud Expressions" initiative.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, and Saif Ghobash, Director-General of the department, were also present.

The "Proud Expressions" initiative is a mobile art exhibition launched by the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office last April in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Tourism.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was briefed on a number of the art works participating in the exhibition, which expressed the artists' feelings towards the sacrifices and victories drawn by the UAE people in the field of right and duty.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the artists participating in the initiative and viewed the 70 art works in a special exhibition held at the Sea Palace in Abu Dhabi.

His Highness commended the efforts made to make this national and cultural initiative a success, stressing the importance of various interactive initiatives that highlight the courage and valour of the UAE martyrs and the pride of Emirati citizens in the sacrifices made for their homeland and the nation.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun said that the meeting reflects Sheikh Mohamed's interest in all efforts being made to commemorate the sacrifice and courage of brave UAE soldiers, which embodies solidarity between the wise leadership and the UAE community.

Proud Expressions is a key initiative of "The UAE Remembers" campaign that was launched by the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court to pay a fitting tribute to the brave heroes of the UAE who made the ultimate sacrifice in their duty in serving the nation.

Proud Expressions is an art initiative consisting of two public engagement programmes across the UAE: a contribution of artworks in several media by the general public and a schools and universities programme targeting students.
