Russia's Ministry of Agriculture is preparing additional measures in support of beef producers, Dmiry Yuryev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, said during a conference on State support for beef cattle breeding for the purposes of import substitution.
The Ministry will mull the possibility of rendering non-tied support in animal husbandry per one kilogramme of marketable produce or as compensation for part of spending on the purchase of fodder, says an assignment given as a result of the conference.
The Ministry may also extend for up to three years the deferment of leasing payments for pedigree cattle farms which lease large horned cattle. Yuryev also emphasized that the Agriculture Ministry is interested in practising small-scale forms of economic management through developing cooperation in beef cattle raising.
The production of high-quality beef in live weight in 2013 amounted to 368,000 tonnes, increasing almost six-fold over five years, materials for the conference said. On the whole, the level of self-sufficiency of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in beef and meat products is 78.5%.
