Up to 18 foreign investment consortiums have been qualified for the tender of the Sultanate's railway project, Oman Railway Company (ORC) said in a statement on Thursday.
These consortiums have been selected out of 34 ones, competing for investment in construction of the mega project, the statement said, adding that five consortiums have also been qualified for installment of the network technological system.
The company will float e tender for execution of the first phase of the venture later this month.
The railway will be designed for transportation of passengers and cargo and would be part of the planned network linking up the six GCC states.
