The situation in Libya is a source of deep concern, said Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Egypt is closely following up the situation in crisis-hit Libya, he said, adding that there is continued consultation with a number of countries regarding the situation in Libya.
Shoukry's remarks came in response to a question about the situation in Libya in light of reports on taking action against Daesh and a number of media reports during the AU Summit in Addis Ababa to form an African force, under Egypt's supervision.
Egypt is always seeking to contain the terrorism phenomenon, he said, adding that Egypt supports the Libyan government and the parliament and the Libyan political path under the sponsorship of the UN in order to form a national unity government.
The terrorism issue was on the top of the agenda during the AU Summit, he added.
He, meanwhile, said that it is important during this phase to form the Libyan government and take the suitable decisions according to the aspirations of the Libyan people and their will.
