The wreckage of war in Yemen.
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Abu Dhabi is set to host an international symposium on Sunday to review and critically analyse the report on human rights in Yemen brought out by the investigation team of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The symposium, to be organised by the Journalists Association of UAE, would be attended by a number of international experts as well as representatives of the civil society and international agencies.

It will focus on analytical and objective reading of the report and highlight the "serious mistakes" the document has, based on "violations and bias" the team committed in making it.

The symposium will comprise three working sessions. The first session will dwell on the critical aspects of the report; while the second will focus on the role of non-governmental organisations in promoting and building the human rights system, promoting global peace and efforts of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in building the modern Yemeni state. The third session will include an open debate and presentation of the final statement.

Mohammed Al Hamadi, head of the Journalists Association of the UAE, said organising the symposium comes within the role of the association to defend the country. He added that the actual magnitude of the gaps in the report would come to the fore during the symposium.
