Arab expert of Israeli affairs Omar Jaara revealed that Israel announced earlier that it intended to install surveillance cameras throughout the oasis of Al-Aqsa Mosque. He said that Israel exploited this latest operation, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed and three Palestinians were martyred in order to pass these cameras and impose electronic doors on the mosque courtyards.
He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that Israeli position towards Aqsa Mosque has not witnessed any change since the beginning, saying that Netanyahu expressed his insistence on keeping the current position of Jerusalem. He added that the Israeli vision in dealing with Aqsa Mosque is not different from the western vision.
He stressed that Israelis are serious about dividing the Aqsa Mosque and reducing the powers of the Islamic Waqf on the Al-Aqsa courtyards and limiting it to the mosque only. He added that the latest measures taken by the Israeli authorities will pave the way for the division.
He added, “We will see new and intensive Israeli measures regarding the construction of a tent, and then the structure. They works seriously to control of the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.” He warned that the Israeli exercises in Aqsa Mosque will lead to increasing instability in the Middle East, saying that the Israelis should realize the danger of their policies in such sensitive issue.
He ruled out what was raised over imminent war in the Gaza Strip, saying that the Israeli government will not take any military action in the coastal Palestinian strip, stressing that they realize that any such action will lead to increasing losses on the political side. However, he said, the major problem is the refusal of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hear to the increasing warnings.
He confirmed that it would be fatal and that the Palestinian people would be taken as a human shield for the Israelis. The civilian areas and the population will be targeted. The siege will be limited to the only weapon, the blockade and the reduction of water, electricity and fuel. "If the Israeli army returns the ball in Gaza, it will not get any more than it did in the last three wars," he said.
He stressed that Israel will not repeat its battle in Gaza unless it took the American approval, saying that If Israel obtains this condition, the war will take place within 24 hours only.
