Twinty-six insurgents have been killed in separate military operations across the country in past 24 hours, statements issued on Tuesday morning by the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Interior state.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Interior states that 19 insurgents were killed in the operations conducted by Afghan National Police with the assistance from the Afghan National Army and personnel from the National Directorate of Security (NDS).
The statement issued by the Ministry of Defense states that seven insurgents were killed in Operation Zulfiqar in southern Helmand province, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).
Operation Zulfiqar was launched by hundreds of Afghan National Security Forces last month to cleare target areas in Helmand province where more than 200 insurgents have been killed so far.
The operation began from Sangin District, one of the restive Districts in Helmand province, but later extended to other Districts within Helmand.
Ministry of Defense statement also states that 62 different types of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were also discovered and defused.
After taking the full responsibility of the security from NATO forces at the beginning of this year, Afghan National Security Forces have conducted, with some still ongoing, large scale operations.
Officials of the Ministry of Defense say that Afghan National Security Forces are successfully running these operations.
