At least 26 insurgents were killed during separate military operations across the country in past 24 hours, officials said Wednesday.
A statement issued by Maidan Wardak media office Wednesday states that security forces conducted two separate operations in Jaghato and Chak districts where three insurgents were killed and another wounded last night.
The statement adds that during the operation in Jaghato security forces freed a soldier who was abducted from eastern Nangarhar province a while back, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).
According to the statement Alam Khan is originally from Naray District of eastern Kunar province and was serving the country in a unit of Afghan National Border Police.
Also, a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense on Wednesday states that 26 insurgents were killed during military operations in past 24 hours.
The statement adds that the operations were conducted in five provinces including Maidan Wardak.
The statement further adds that security forces discovered and defused 24 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during the operations but one IED claimed the life of a soldier.
