His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland have today attended the honouring of the winners of the Military Showjumping Championship, which was held at the Windsor Royal Great Park as part of the International Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The ceremony was also attended by senior guests, members of the delegation accompanying HM the King and a large audience of equestrian fans.
The British royal anthem was performed and afterwards the military teams taking part in the championship paraded past the royal podium, including the Bahraini squad.
At the end of the race, HM King Hamad and HM Queen Elizabeth presented the Endurance Cup to Royal Team Captain His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa who won the race.
The two monarchs also presented second and third-placed Bahrainis Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa and Raed Mahmoud with trophies.
HM the King and the British Queen then honoured the winners of the Single Military Showjumping Competition. The Bahraini team which comprises riders Fadhel Salman, Ahmed Mansour and Khalid Al-Khatri won the third place. HM the King presented his cup to American rider Laura Kraut.
HM the King then shook hands with HM the British Queen and thanked her for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, hailing her keenness on consolidating bilateral relations bonding the two friendly countries.
He said that Bahrain’s participation in the competition stemmed from the solid cooperation and deep-rooted historic relations, which are based on a long-standing legacy of understanding, friendship and mutual interest.
HM the King hailed steadily-growing relations and stressed the importance of the participation which he described as being an opportunity for Bahraini riders to gain more edge and expertise and reach out to contenders from other countries.
HM the King commended the organisers for the outstanding preparations and the facilities they provided to ensure the achievement of desired results, wishing them all continuous success.
