Tokyo shares market maintained its rising trend and ended the morning session higher Thursday as investors' sentiment was boosted by an upbeat U.S. gross domestic product data for the April-June quarter released overnight, as well as on a weaker yen.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 55.00 points, or 0.35 percent, from Wednesday to end the session at 15,701.23.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 4.18 points, or 0.32 percent, at 1,296. 42.
Gainers were led by air transport, consumer finance and bank shares.
