Sweden's Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said that Turkey was currently in a reform process, and Sweden was strongly supporting Turkey within this process. Sweden fully supports Turkey's EU membership, added Reinfeldt who held a joint press conference with Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Tuesday. He expressed belief that today strategic and economic value of Turkey's membership was more than ever. Reforms and new constitution within the scope of Turkey's EU membership process would increase the freedoms in the country, said Reinfeldt. Reinfeldt said that they were pleased about Turkey's efforts in Syrian issue, adding that they wanted the violence in Syria ended. Regarding human rights issue in Turkey, Reinfeldt said that Turkey recorded a progress in minority rights, adding that Turkey should also focus on freedom of press more.
