Supply and Internal Trade Minister Khaled Hanafy held talks with the Cypriot Ambassador in Cairo on means of buttressing relations between the two countries in the political and economic fields and establishing a strategic alliance to increase the volume of trade.
A statement released by the Supply Ministry on Tuesday said the two sides discussed utilizing Cyprus's position in exporting the products of the Food Industries Holding Company to the European Union as well as investing Egypt's historical position as a gate of the Cypriot products to the Gulf and African states.
Talks also covered how Cypriot could make use of the grains logistic center that would be established in Damietta and exchange of commodities between the two sides, especially the exportation of Food Industries products including food oil, vegetables, juice, jam, pasta and others to Cyprus.
The Cypriot ambassador, for his part, said his country is keen on buttressing joint cooperation with Egypt in all fields, especially trade and economic ones, noting that he will invite the Cypriot companies to work jointly with the Egyptian companies in the trade exchange.
