South Korean strong won hurts exporters’ profitability

South Korean exporters saw their profitability fall in the first half of the year as a strong local currency offset their earnings from increased shipments, data showed Friday.
South Korean News Agency (Yonhap) quoted the Bank of Korea as saying that exports of goods and services in the January-June period reached 373.94 trillion won (US$365 billion) this year, down 1.5 percent from the same period last year. It is calculated by applying the won-dollar exchange to a relevant figure in the current account
