President Abdel Fattah El Sisi left Cairo Thursday heading for New York to take part in the meetings of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.

Sisi will deliver Egypt's speech, in which he reviews the political and economic developments in Egypt and Cairo's viewpoints on Middle East issues.

The word will include Egypt's vision on terrorism combat, as well as a number of new ideas and initiatives aiming to stabilize world peace and security.

On the first day of his visit to New York, President Sisi will attend the inaugural session of the UN General Assembly, in which the development agenda for the years to follow 2015 will be approved, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said, noting that more than 150 heads of state and government will be attending this session.

Egypt has effectively took part in the wording of the developmental targets for the years 2015-2030 with the aim of improving living conditions in many countries looking forward to achieving sustainable development in the various fields, Youssef added.

Egypt's 2030 strategy on sustainable development came in line with the UN targets, the spokesman noted.

Sisi will preside over a committee meeting of African heads of state and government on climate change, Youssef said.

He will also participate in a number of high-profile events on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings, including a seminar on South-South cooperation, upon an invitation from the Chinese president, he added, noting that Sisi will also attend a terrorism-combat summit at an invitation from the US president.

President Sisi will meet a number of US business leaders and prominent figures to review Egyptian achievements, especially on the economic level, and available investment opportunities, the spokesman said.

The president is also expected to discuss ways to boost relations and exchange viewpoints on regional and international issues at his scheduled meetings with a number of heads of state and government.
