Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday approved a decree imposing economic sanctions and import bans on some Western countries.
The one-year sanctions come in response to the recent sanctions imposed by the US and the EU on Russia for its support for separatists in Ukraine.
Russia's new measures include bans on imports of farm produce, foodstuffs, raw materials, and beef and cattle, Interfax news agency reported.
The presidential decree tasks the concerned Russian departments with analyzing the impacts of the import bans on the economy and the prices on the domestic market.
Russia is mulling how to meet the possible shortage of these products through tapping into imports from friendly countries, according to the report.
