Russia and Cuba have signed an agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, an Interfax correspondent reported from the signing ceremony, which took place during the International Atomic Energy Agency's 60th General Conference in Vienna, according to Interfax.
Nikolai Spassky, deputy head of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, and Cuban Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Jose Fidel Santana Nunez signed the document.
The Russian government approved a draft agreement between Rosatom and Cuba on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy at the end of June this year.
