The West has failed to organize a global boycott of Russia through international and interparliamentary organizations, the speaker of the Federation Council (the Russian parliament’s upper house) Valentina Matviyenko said.
This year has been hard, but “instructive in many aspects”, including in interparliamentary cooperation, which, for known reasons, was not easy, she said, adding she meant “the West’s attempts to isolate Russia from the world community by breaking own interparliamentary ties with our country and forcing other countries and international organizations to do it.”
“They have succeeded partially, but only partially. The project for a global boycott of Russia has failed,” the speaker said in her blog on the Federation Council website.
In general, cooperation of the Federation Council with parliaments of other countries has been “intensive and fruitful, though its political geography has changed,” she said, adding the upper house successfully developed cooperation with parliaments in the post-Soviet space, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
