Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and other APEC leaders attended on Sunday a meeting with APEC Business Advisory Council members. The event at which top business managers from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum’s economies give their recommendations to APEC leaders took place after a working session of the summit. On November 13, the last day of the current three-day APEC summit in Honolulu, the capital of the U.S. state of Hawaii, APEC leaders will hold a few working meetings at which Medvedev will assume the rotating chair in the organization. Russia will for the first time host an APEC summit in the Far East in September 2012. APEC finance ministers will meet in Moscow next year. On Sunday, Medvedev will speak in detail on the priorities of APEC work in 2012. The day before, he said Russia intends to preserve the succession of work of the APEC summit in 2012. U.S. President Barack Obama and Medvedev met on Saturday on the sidelines of the summit. After the meeting, Obama said the U.S. administration begins talks with the Congress on the abolishment of the Jackson-Vanik amendment in regard to Russia.
