Exports are estimated at around 153 billion leks (1.46 billion U.S. dollars) during the first seven months of 2014, increasing 7.6 percent over the same period last year, Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) reported Friday, quoting INSTAT statistics data.
Made-to-order textile and footwear business has performed very well thanks to the support of Albanian government which has encouraged the sector through a package of incentives.
Exports of construction materials amounted to 21.6 billion leks, increasing by around 10 percent over the 7-month span.
Other groups showing a positive trend over the period are "food, spirits and tobacco" which have increased by 13 percent and "wood and paper products" which increased by 27 percent.
