Refugees in Africa
Khartoum - KUNA

The International Islamic Charity Organisation (IICO) has carried out a campaign to relieve civilians fleeing Central Africa to Chad and Cameroon.
The organization's teams have provided assistance to approximately 3,350 families, some 23,450 people, at a cost of more than USD 100,000, said the organization field team in a statement issued on Monday. Some 1,750 food packages were given to those in need in Shayari in southern Cameroon and 700 others at a refugee camp in the capital N'Djamena.
It added that the teams provided other forms of aid and services for the refugees, such as organizing entertainment activities for children. The locals were educated in brief about Kuwait, namely the recent UN acclamation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a "Humanitarian Leader" and the State of Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center." The UN has granted such high-esteem honor to Kuwait due to its long record of humanitarian and relief activities throughout the world.
In Bangui, Central Africa's capital, food was distributed to the displaced.
Kuwait, namely Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq, the Amiri Diwan Advisor and the UN delegate for humanitarian affairs, has been offering generous aid to peoples stricken with natural catastrophes.
Central Africa has witnessed a bloody sectarian strife causing scores of deaths.
