Iceland saw an increase of fish caught in July 2015, a 3.9-percent year-on-year growth, according to figures issued Friday by Statistics Iceland.

The total fish caught in July amounted to 94,830 tonnes, including 26,425 tonnes of demersal catch and 64,418 tonnes of pelagic catch, and some shellfish, figures showed.

The total volume in July this year increased by 3,500 tonnes of fish compared with that of July last year.

The total fish caught in the period between August 2014 and July 2015 was 1.33 million tonnes, an increase of 23 percent compared with 1.08 million tonnes of fish caught in the previous 12 months period.
