Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade Munir Fakhry Abdel Nour on Wednesday held talks with Cypriot Ambassador here Sotos Liassides to review arrangements for an international economic forum Egypt is planning to organize on February 21-22 next year.
The talks are aimed at reviewing investment opportunities, especially those related to mega national projects to which the Egyptian government is lending much more interest than others.
These projects include the Suez Canal Development Corridor and the Golden Triangle.
The Egyptian minister urged the Cypriot ambassador to submit a list of the Cypriot companies proposed by his government to participate in the forum.
He asserted however that all Cypriot companies operating in the various economic sectors are invited to attend the forum.
The talks also took up means of increasing trade exchange between both countries given the fact that the current value of joint trade stands at 67.5 million euros. He added such a state of affairs requires more cooperation and coordination by officials from both countries to enhance trade ties.
For his part, the Cypriot ambassador asserted that companies from his country are seeking to invest in Egypt, especially in the Suez Canal corridor project.
