British Ambassador to Kuwait Matthew James Lodge has affirmed London's keenness on seeing Kuwait play a crucial role at the international level.
In remarks to the Kuwaiti daily, "Al-Anbaa," published on Thursday, the ambassador noted the two countries' keenness on boosting mutual investments, noting such an approach is designed to solidify commercial cooperation between the two sides, and also to enable Kuwait face a host of "challenges." He indicated that the two leaderships have been devoting special attention to security coordination, stressing that London was doing everything possible in its hands, under umbrella of the international legitimacy, to contain menace of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, the ISIL.
Elaborating on the security aspect, Ambassador Lodge notes that a special security committee that coordinates with the UK department of defense works within international channels to secure the key Hormuz strait.
Bulk of the exported regional crude oil passes through the strategic strait.
The British embassy is currently preoccupied with preparations for dispatch of Kuwaiti officers to the UK for training, he said, also noting the joint cooperation between London and Kuwait city for securing customs and aviation against terrorism.
On installing the electronic visa system in Kuwait, Ambassador Lodge indicated that handling this issue is taking time due to technical reasons, hoping that these problems would be resolved early next year.
A Kuwaiti-British business center was opened in Kuwait, on Wednesday, to encourage British companies invest in Kuwait and lure the local entrepreneurs launch businesses in the UK, he said, indicating that the center would be helpful to sort out some bureaucratic issues.
