Albanian Minister of Finance Shkelqim Cani on Friday said the economic situation in the country was serious, but not impossible to be managed. "As we initially promised, we have our European project in mind and we are determined to implement it. We will continue our journey towards Brussels," Cani told a meeting. A radical improvement of relations with businesses was crucial to the government's vision, the minister said, adding the government's main goal was to pay off its debts to business. Cani said public finances were in a difficult situation, at a time when the budget revenues for 2013 was 40 billion leks (390 million U.S. dollars). But he voiced confidence that together, government and business, in an honest relation and with international institutions' support, would be able to overcome the situation in the mid-term.
