The preparatory meeting of experts ahead of 2nd Africa-Turkey Summit will begin Wednesday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The participants will focus on means and ways to establish "a new model of partnership for the strengthening of sustainable development and Africa's integration."
Algeria, a founding member of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), will participate in the summit of heads of State and Government, scheduled for Friday, along with representatives of the African Union (AU) and the different African regional economic communities.
"We will agree on the new objectives for the strengthening of cooperation in the interest of the two sides. We will adopt two documents during the summit, namely the Declaration and the Joint Implementation Plan for 2015-2018," said the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Gavusoglu.
The Summit, which will be an opportunity to assess Africa-Turkey partnership, officialized since the holding of the first summit between the two sides in 2008, constitutes the continuation of sound cooperation between Turkey and African countries.
"Turkey has become a key partner for the development, trade and investment in Africa," said the Turkish Foreign minister, adding that his country seeks to "support the efforts of the African Union and African countries for lasting peace, democracy and development."
The first Africa-Turkey Summit, held in Istanbul in April 2008, adopted two documents, namely the "Declaration of Istanbul" and the Cooperation Framework."
The 2010-2014 Implementation Plan was jointly drawn up by taking into consideration the economic potentialities of African countries and Turkey, with a view to developing multisectoral cooperation for the benefit of Africa and Turkey.
