Arab foreign ministers to meet on Thursday in Cairo

The Arab foreign ministers will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow –Thursday – to discuss the recent Israeli encroachments and measures in Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Arab League Council convened the meeting, at the demand of Jordan, which was backed by other Arab states. Incumbent session president Algeria will chair the meeting

Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Arab occupied territories Said Abu Ali said that the meeting comes as part of pan-Arab efforts to confront the unprecedented Israeli blatant encroachments at Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque and flagrant violation of the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights. 

"The aim of the meeting is to call for the cancellation of the Israeli measures and ensure a return to the situation which was prevailing before the 14th of July", he said, stressing firm rejection of any attempt to change the historic and legal status which was established in occupied Eastern Jerusalem since 1967. 

He underlined the necessity of providing support to the Palestinian people, particularly refugees, commending the stances of Arab countries, which are hosting refugees and meeting their needs. He also appreciated Arab countries’ assistance in support of the Palestinian people.
