Riyadh - Arab Today

King Salman bin Abdul Aziz al Saud said that Saudi Arabia was keen on security and peace in the region, but the kingdom also had the right to defend and protect itself.

“We do not interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries and we call the others not to meddle with our affairs,” he said. “I reiterate once again that we protect the lands of Muslims and that we cooperate with our Arab and Muslim brothers on defending their countries, securing their independence and preserving the political regimes selected by their own people,” King Salman said according to the Gulf News on Sunday.

These remarks was made by the Saudi monarch while receiving the senior guests who attended the National Festival for Heritage and Culture.

“We are ready and there must be cooperation in fighting poverty and illiteracy in order to enable our people to enjoy their blessings. Islam is a religion of justice, moderation and compassion. The terrorism by those who claim they are Muslims is not in any way or form related to Islam. Islam is a religion of compassion and cooperation, and we all have a great role in unifying our words and ranks while enlightening the nation. We need to be optimistic despite the conditions surrounding us,” he said.

King Salman said that the conjugation of efforts and a strong determination will help the nation overcome the crises.

“Thank God, there are no crises or disturbances in Saudi Arabia, and I do stress that the security of the kingdom is the security of the pilgrims and visitors,” he added.
