London - Arabstoday

Mainz used a strong first half-hour to continue their march up the Bundesliga table with a comfortable 4-0 home victory over Kaiserslautern. Mohamed Zidan opened the scoring in the second minute and Adam Szalai made it 2-0 in the 17th minute. Nicolai Muller added Mainz's third goal in the 30th minute and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was Mainz's fourth goalscorer in the 74th minute. The hosts increased their undefeated streak to five games to improve to 27 points. Kaiserslautern, however, continue to struggle as they have just 18 points after 13 matches without a victory. Mainz grabbed the lead in the second minute with Szalai passing diagonally right of goal to Muller, who crossed back into the middle, where Zidan struck home from 14 yards for his fourth goal in four games since his return to Mainz. Three quick goals The hosts doubled the lead 15 minutes later as Eugen Polanski lobbed a ball over the defence to Elkin Soto, who fed Szalai for an easy push into the goal from three yards out. Mainz made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark from a counter attack, with Zidan passing down the right side to Muller, who after a few more strides blasted home. Kaiserslautern were close to pulling a goal back in the 44th minute but Christian Tiffert struck the crossbar and Mathias Abel's header from the ensuing corner was stopped by Mainz goalkeeper Christian Wetklo. Mainz were close to finishing off the visitors for good in the 50th minute but Kaiserslautern's Ariel Borysiuk cleared Jan Kirchhoff's header off the line. And the hosts did the job in the 74th minute as Niko Bungert's header went to Choupo-Moting, who poked home from nine yards out.
