500 top-performing high school students
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Five hundred top-performing high school students have left for Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada to attend a five-week English language training programme funded by a grant from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Education Council.

During the "Summer Abroad" programme, male students will stay with host families while female students will stay at housing provided by the concerned language institutes in the respective countries.

The students are accompanied by 60 supervisors who will prepare daily and weekly reports on the programme and coordinate all other activities for the students.

Ahmad Al Shamsi, ADEC's General Services Division Manager and the Project Manager said the programme will give participating students a chance to be self-dependent, allow them to enhance their linguistic skills and build leadership and social skills.

He added that the students showed true interest in acquiring new skills that would help them achieve their academic ambitions.
