Director of Pharmacy and Medicine in the Ministry of Health, Inas Fardi confirmed that, Pharmaceutical industry sector in Tunisia is improving and witnessed am important growth that covers 48% of domestic needs.

She told “Arab Today” that, transactions for medicines’ exporting are worth 100 million dinars, and the procedure for obtaining a license to promote drugs in a short period of time will help boosting the economy by improving the exporting process.

She said that, the cooperation between public sector, private sector and World Bank contributed in the success of this procedure by conquering all obstacles that hinder medicines’ promoting in local and global markets.

She denied any shortage in diabetics and high blood pressure medications, confirming the existence of a hospital blog that provides the required medications first for the  basic health care centers and local hospitals, and then for the other facilities.
 

She added that, there is a national program for diabetics and high blood pressure medications with an independent budget. The committee of this program consists of different bodies such as, the Pharmacy and Drug Unit and the National Drug Observatory and others, which meet monthly to check the medicines’ supplies and replace any shortage.
