The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, today launched an operation to distribute 5,000 food baskets to vulnerable and underprivileged families in the Merkhah As Sufla District of Shabwa Governorate in Yemen.
Mohammed Saif Al Muhairi, Head of the ERC Team in Shabwa, said that thousands of families will benefit from the aid, adding that the ERC aims to improve the lives of local people by providing them with their immediate needs, including humanitarian, relief and development assistance.
He also highlighted the ERC’s desire to support vital projects in the governorate, which will have a positive impact on community services, including health and education projects.
The residents of the district expressed their appreciation to the UAE’s leadership and people for their humanitarian gesture, which will ease the suffering of families in need, due to the severe living conditions faced by the country as a result of the coup by the Houthis militias.
