Dubai Municipality Waste Management Department has received a delegation headed by Dr. Nahed Yousef, Head of the waste management body at the Ministry of Environment in Egypt.
The delegation was briefed on the best practices and practical experiences of Dubai Municipality in cleaning services and sustainable waste management. Delegates also conducted a number of field visits to waste management projects in Dubai.
The Egyptian delegation was briefed on the legislation and local orders of the Waste Management Department and the smart transformation processes in the field of monitoring the means of storage and waste collection vehicles and technical methods adopted by the Department to implement daily work programmes in terms of collection, transport and treatment of waste.
The delegation was given a presentation about the integrated waste management in all stages in line with the strategic plan of Dubai Municipality 2016-2021 and the investment projects for processing, recycling and sorting waste.
They also conducted a field visit to the Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant in Jebel Ali, where they were briefed on the latest international methods used by Dubai Municipality in treatment of solid, liquid and medical waste.
The visiting delegation stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between Dubai Municipality and the Egyptian Ministry of Environment to exchange experiences. Dr. Nahed Yousef praised the beauty of Dubai and its endeavours to provide excellent services to the community, stressing the need to communicate with Dubai Municipality in various fields.
