At least 13 people including members of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces were killed in a suicide attack in northern Parwan province of Afghanistan, local media reported.
According to local security officials, the target of the suicide bomber was a commander of the ALP forces who survived the attack.
Provincial police chief Gen. Zaman Mamozai confirmed that nine civilians and four policemen lost their lives in the attack and 17 others were wounded, Khaama Press reported.
He said the suicide bomber detonated his explosives in a crowded market in Sia Gerd district and those injured in the attack were immediately shifted to hospital.
The Taliban group claimed responsibility behind the incident saying the attack was carried out by a resident of eastern Paktia province.
Parwan is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are actively operating in a number of its remote districts and often carry out insurgency activities
