Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos recognized the National Transitional Council as the legitimate authority of Libya Thursday during a meeting with NTC representatives, according to local media. The Libyan mission, comprised of NTC delegate Basit Igtet and two members of the Independent Libya Foundation, met president Santos at the presidential palace, pledging to safeguard human rights, facilitate the country's transition to full democracy and respect due process. "We won't disappoint our Colombian friends or the Libyan people during this process of reconstruction and reconciliation," Igtet said. The NTC was formed on Feb. 27, 2011 and consists of members representing Libyan cities.
