The new coalition government of Austria, headed by conservative Chancellor Sebastien Kurz, has decided at the first cabinet meeting, after swearing in, to provide additional humanitarian assistance worth 150,000 Euros to 4,000 Syrian families living in refugee camps in Jordan, especially unaccompanied children and women subjected to violence.
In an official statement, Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl said, "Austria provides concrete assistance to the victims of the Syrian conflict."
She added that the move sends an important signal that the Austrian government intends to continue its commitment to provide humanitarian aid, referring to the new coalition government, which took over formally on Monday headed by the conservative People's Party allied with the Freedom Party.
