The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development has announced that it will organise UAE Cultural Week from 23rd to 27th October, in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said that the ministry is keen to organise cultural weeks to demonstrate UAE values, culture, heritage and history to the world, adding that cultural weeks also support cultural and intellectual relationships, promote the exchange of experiences, and introduce UAE innovation in the fields of art, culture and heritage to the world.

Hakam Al Hashmi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Culture, Arts and Archaeology, will lead the ministry’s delegation to supervise the UAE Cultural Week in Belarus.

The UAE cultural week will be home to a Heritage Village with traditional old houses and bedouin tents, where visitors can experience traditional Emirati handcrafts, food and clothes, reflecting various traditional Emirati environments.

The cultural week will include heritage and folk art shows reflecting Emirati culture, short narrative movies and a fine arts exhibition displaying works by UAE artists. The story of the UAE, its past and present, will also be told through a photo exhibition .

"UAE Cultural Week in Belarus will reflect a miniature picture of the cultural and artistic scene in the UAE. A pavilion through which visitors will learn more about the unique cultural heritage of the UAE, in addition to its comprehensive renaissance in various fields," said Sheikh Nahyan.

"Art, in its various forms, is an international language understood by everyone regardless of their languages or origins. That being so, Emirati fine art in its various forms, such as Islamic arts, Arabic calligraphy, ornamentation, and heritage and folk arts, can easily deliver our messages of forgiveness, peace and tolerance and introduce others to our culture," he added.

Sheikh Nahyan commended the development in the UAE-Belarus relations in various fields, saying that the participation of a large number of UAE intellectuals and artists in the cultural week will promote standing relations between both countries and will deliver Emirati culture with its diversity and uniqueness to the people of Belarus.
