Assistant Supply Minister for Assets and Internal Trade Ibrahim Ashmawi took part in the meetings of the 57th round of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) general assembly held in Switzerland's Geneva.
Several meetings were held with more than 30 officials in the WIPO to discuss cooperation between Egypt and the organization in the field of protecting intellectual property rights.
Ashmawi held a meeting with the WIPO head where they probed benefiting from the expertise of the international organization in upgrading the intellectual property system, thus, it was agreed that a mission representing the WIPO will visit Egypt this month in this regard, according to a statement issued by the Supply Ministry.
During his participation in the event, Ashmawi inked an agreement with the Japanese government to be effective next month till four years.
The agreement stipulates exchanging expertise between the two sides and sending Egyptian missions to be trained in Japan on intellectual property systems.
