French Prime Minister Manuel Valls will visit Israel and the Palestinian territories on May 21-24 to discuss his country's initiative to relaunch the Palestinian-Israeli peace process following the flare-up of violence in Gaza.
In a statement on Wednesday, the French cabinet said the visit aims at holding diplomatic talks with the two sides in light of French efforts to clinch a peace deal based on a two-state solution.
The visit comes ahead of a ministerial meeting which France is organizing by the end of this month to relaunch the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
During his visit to Al Quds, the minister is scheduled to meet former Israeli president Shimon Peres, President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In Ramallah, he will meet Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.
