Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, President of Mauritania, visited the Abu Dhabi-based headquarters of Al Dahra Agricultural Company, one of the UAE’s leading agricultural companies, accompanied by Mohamed Ould Abdel Fatah, Minister of Oil, Energy and Minerals of Mauritania, and Mohamed Hanen, Ambassador of Mauritania to the UAE.

President Aziz was received by Khudaim Abdullah Al Darei, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Dahra Agricultural Company, Dr. Soliman Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Governmental Sector, and Salmeen Al Ameri, CEO of the Company, along with other company officials.

During the visit, President Aziz was briefed about the company’s work, departments and strategies to diversify its investment portfolio and achieve the country’s vision of food security, with the aim of conserving water resources and ensuring self-sufficiency and sustainable supplies of basic commodities.

He was also briefed about the company’s goals, as well as local and international projects related to the production and sale of food commodities, including rice, flour, fruits and vegetables. The company owns and operates large assets, including 355,000 acres of agricultural land, eight feedstock factories, four rice mills and two flour milling factories, with facilities on four continents.

At the end of his visit, President Aziz praised the company’s efforts, in working to assure the UAE’s vision of food security and provide basic food supplies and commodities to consumers at affordable prices, despite the current challenges facing the agriculture sector in many countries.

He added that Mauritania welcomes the company’s investments, while stressing that it will support them by helping to meet their food requirements.

The Al Dahra Agricultural Company is involved in the agricultural production and supply of animal feed and food crops, with an annual production capacity of three million metric tonnes. Its feed sector helps to fulfil the needs of dairy farms and livestock breeders.

Through its diverse geographic presence, the company continues to implement strategies to maintain its supplies throughout the year, and according to the best quality standards, to various markets, including Asia, the Middle East and Africa
