Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday received Philippe Douste-Blazy, the French candidate for the World Health Organization's (WHO) director general.
The former French minister of health hoped that Cairo would support his bid to win the international post, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Douste-Blazy asserted that he targets refreshing the WHO's role to maintain the world health and find solutions to the healthcare problems worldwide, Abu Zeid added.
During the meeting, Shoukry asserted that Cairo would support the most qualified and competent candidate for the post, the spokesman said.
