Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday had talks with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Maliki in Athens.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of a conference on cultural and religious peaceful coexistence in the Greek capital.
The two sides took up the recent developments of the Palestinian issue and efforts for inter-Palestinian reconciliation and reviving the Middle East peace process, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Shoukry underlined at the meeting the importance of empowering the national unity government to undertake its mission in the territories, added the spokesman.
Shoukry also highlighted the necessity of ending inter-Palestinian divisions, according to the spokesman.
The Palestinian foreign minister voiced apprehension over maintaining Israeli settlement activities in the Palestinian territories, said the spokesman.
He also extended condolences to Shoukry over the martyrs of Egyptian police in Wahat terrorist attack that took place last week.
