Designed to offer powerful sports performance with dynamic handling, the Subaru BRZ will initially launch in a top-end model featuring 17in alloy wheels, a torque-sensing LSD, front, side, curtain and knee airbags, MP3 connectivity, dual-zone climate control and LED daytime running lights. In addition, Subaru has confirmed the BRZ will include its Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system along with the option of six-speed short-shift manual or paddle-operated automatic transmissions. Following the high-spec model's launch, a cheaper option will be made available to buy. Later in the year, a 'stripped out' version will be offered for track-day enthusiasts and tinkerers: missing many of the features of the top-end BRZ, it's designed for those who would only be fitting custom parts anyway. Six colours have been confirmed for the BRZ's UK launch: WR Blue Mica, Sterling Silver, Satin White, Crystal Black Silica, Dark Grey Metallic and San Remo Red. Under the bonnet, whichever colour is chosen, is Subaru's horizontally-opposing 200PS 2.0-litre Boxer engine, which features its lowest mounting position yet. This drops the overall centre of gravity of the vehicle and provides, Subaru claims, exceptional handling characteristics which are only improved by the vehicle's impressive power-to-weight ratio of 164PS per tonne and lightweight chassis design. As with the company's existing Subaru range, the BRZ will be offered with the 'Everything Taken Care of' (ETCo) package, which provides free repairs for minor dents and scratches, repairs for alloy wheels, a monthly wash and vac along with annual valeting, replacement of lost keys, collection and delivery when servicing is required, an annual wheel alignment check, coverage for the first MOT and a contribution to any repairs required, and winter wheel and tyre storage.
