The death toll from a 5.6-magnitude earthquake in eastern Turkey has risen to 13 with 30 others wounded, the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) said Friday. Rescue workers have pulled out the body of another quake victim, increasing the death toll in Turkey's latest deadly temblor to at least 13, AFAD said. A Japanese aid worker is among the casualties, who came to Turkey in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake last month. Aksit Dayi, a senior disaster management official, said rescue workers recovered the body of a middle-aged man under one of the two collapsed hotels in the eastern city of Van early Friday. The earthquake hit the town of Edremit, 20 km southwest of Van' s city center, at 21:23 local time (1923 GMT) Wednesday, according to Turkey's Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute. AFAD said about 25 buildings, including two hotels, collapsed in the quake, adding that the Turkish Red Crescent immediately dispatched 986 tents and 783 rescue workers to Van province.
