Iranian Petroleum Minister Rostam Qassemi and his Russian counterpart explored avenues for the further expansion of ties and cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector. Qassemi arrived in Qatar for a forum of gas exporters on Tuesday and met his Russian counterpart. At the meeting, the two officials discussed energy cooperation and involvement of Russian companies in Iranian oil and gas projects. Russia has requested Iranian authorities to assist in helping Russian companies realize energy projects in Iran. Qassemi welcomed Russian companies in Iran's energy projects. Iran prioritizes joint energy projects with foreigners with emphasis laid on time needed for their realization. The ministers agreed on the need for a common policy in international energy organizations.
