The Deira Corniche is a much-forgotten area of town, but this 400-room stalwart has played a significant role on the Dubai hotel scene since 1980. You simply won’t find a more feature-laden hotel in the city. Pool and gym, check. Bars and nightclub, check. Revolving restaurant, check. Private golf course, check. Mini-shopping centre, check. Ice rink, check. On top of the staggering supply of leisure activities the hotel is close to the spacious Al Mamzar beach, traditional souks, modern malls, metro transport and Dubai’s creek and heritage districts. The Hyatt Regency is starting to show the signs of more than 30 years of service. The exterior, in particular, is a far cry from the polished glass and chrome of more modern properties but with so many tourist attractions under the one roof it is worth considering. The hotel is also well-located for sojourns into Sharjah and is a short drive from Dubai International airport. The essentials • Al Mamzar beach is one of the forgotten beaches in Dubai. Guests are just minutes away by taxi. • The gold and spice souks are on the hotel’s doorstep. • Revolving restaurant Al Dewaar boasts some of the city’s best views without sending you 50 storey into the sky to appreciate them.
