Rabat - Arab Today

Sale’s city council has installed signs by the city’s seashore stating the price of parking, in order to stop the exorbitant prices often charged by car park attendants.

The council decided that car drivers must pay MAD 3 for a half day and MAD 6 for the whole day. Drivers must pay MAD 5 to park their cars during the night.

Motorcycle drivers have to pay MAD 2, while trucks drivers must pay MAD 4 for less than a half day. Truckers have to pay MAD 10 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

In July, a show on the Moroccan TV channel 2M discussed the high parking costs in Casablanca, which had outraged residents. Speakers complained that numerous car park attendants had been charging vehicle drivers unfairly high prices.

According to 2M’s report, several parking guards charge people MAD 10 to 20, which were over the legal price.

Following complaints filed publicly against parking guards, Casablanca’s council put up signs stating parking prices across the city.
