Paul Shaffer, musical director of "Late Show with David Letterman" in New York, says his contract expires in 2014 and his future is unclear after that. "We've been on 30 years so now we've got another two years," Letterman's 62-year-old sidekick told TV Guide Canada during the weekend. "I'm going to be certainly ready to lie down after that, take a nap. But life is nutty. Anything can happen. I've been so lucky and blessed to be working this long in show business. And whatever happens now is just gravy to me." The New York Post said Shaffer earns about $5 million a year in his position at "Late Show." A publicist for the show declined to comment on his remarks when contacted by the newspaper.
