Fierce explosions hit Mezzeh Military Airport, an important Syrian regime airport, in Damascus on Wednesday, Sky news reported.

Several fires were seen at the airport following the explosions.

It was not clear whether the blast was caused by air raids by fighter jets or the explosion of ammunition and arms depots at the airport.

No word on casualties has been reported so far, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
