heavy clashes erupted between regime and rebel forces in city of Aleppo after a unilateral ceasefire announced by Russia expired

Some 29 members of Syrian Army and pro-Syrian military militias were killed Sunday in clashes during their attempt to advance into Saladin and al Amiriyah districts in Aleppo, Skynews reported.

Violent clashes have erupted between Syrian military forces and opposition militias in Aleppo after a truce announced by Russia expired, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Fierce fighting and shelling were reported in a number of districts in Aleppo, that has been divided since 2012 between the Syrian regime which hold western areas and the opposition that control eastern parts, it added.

Russia announced a ceasefire and provided safe corridors for the opposition forces from the eastern city, but no one left and no humanitarian aid had been delivered to opposition-held areas.
